Written for the Road...

INTO THE WILD tells the story of Chris McCandless, a young man who traded a bright future for some "life" on the road. After graduating from University, McCandless abandoned all of his possessions, gave his $25,000 in savings to charity, and hitchhiked across the United States. McCandless finally settled down in the Alaskan wilderness. Four months later, he turned up dead. Thanks to a journal left behind by McCandless, we are offered a glimpse as to why a kid with the world ahead of him chose the road less traveled. The author, Jon Krakauer, does an amazing job of presenting the facts and letting the reader be the final decider on whether or not McCandless' journey was worth his life.

INTO THE WILD should be mandatory reading for any traveler. It is a unique story that reminds us that the structured, daily grind is not for everybody. And sometimes, those who veer off from the straighten path can be rewarded with an experience that most of us cannot possibly imagine. So, if you haven’t already read the book, or even if you have, you should definitely take the journey INTO THE WILD.
